Tara Cadena

Treasurer

Tara-cadena

I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Biology and moved west to settle in Las Vegas. During my time at Purdue, I discovered a passion for education and community-focused service through my two years as an AmeriCorps member—an experience that profoundly changed the trajectory of my life.

I’ve now been teaching for 21 years. For the first 20, I taught middle school math and science, where I developed a strong foundation in STEM instruction and adolescent learning. After earning my master’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University, I transitioned to teaching upper elementary. This shift has allowed me to bring my experience and enthusiasm to younger learners while continuing to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.

Outside the classroom, I am a proud wife and mother. My husband is also a teacher by day and a mariachi by night, and our lives are filled with music, education, and laughter. We have two children—a 22-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son—who are the heart of our world. My family is the center of my existence, and they inspire me daily.

In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, woodworking, and spending quality time with my loved ones. Whether I’m building something in the garage or relaxing with family, I find joy in creating and connecting.
